The law of expectation – it’s a mind game!

Do you sometimes feel that the world is against you and everyone’s out there to get you? That whatever you do always goes wrong and you will fail no matter what?

Perhaps you even find plenty of evidences to support how you feel.

This happens. When you expect bad things to happen to you, they usually do. When they do, you then have evidence to support that bad things do indeed happen to you. You then expect more bad things to happen to you.

What a vicious circle!

Let’s turn this around. It’s a crazy idea, but try it anyway. Just for the heck of it.

Instead of thinking and feeling that the world is plotting against you, just think (force yourself to, if you have to) that the world is plotting to do you good. Really, think that the world is conspiring to do a lot of good things to you. It is working to make your vision come true. It is actually helping you to accomplish your goals in unknown ways.

That’s what you call a change of focus!

See the world as a paradise of wonderful opportunities. Think of everyone you meet as someone who will somehow help you some day in some way. Handle every challenging situation as if it is there to make you stronger and better.

When you expect positive things to happen, they usually do.

If you’re going to expect anyhow, why not expect the positive rather than the negative? If you’re going to be thinking anyway, why not think big? If you’re going to be successful some day, then why feel miserable today?

Expect the best and let life take care of the rest.

Mind game

Do you play sports? Next time you are in a competition, visualize the outcome of the game before you start playing. See yourself making all the perfect shots and moves. Play the game in your mind as clearly and perfectly as you can, then enter the real game. Most sports champs and Olympic athletes usually do this. They call it visual motor rehearsal. If it works for them, it can work for you too. Try and see.
